MOSAIC'S Approach to Developing a Sustainable Yoga Practice

We have developed a simple approach to develop a personal yoga practice that is sustainable from the initial stages through years of practice. The main principles are patience, gentleness, commitment, will, and practice.

The Six Steps

Step 1: Attend a Yin Yoga Class. This class is designed for anyone interested in healing and growing. The purpose is to let the body heal by holding the postures long enough to allow the body to go from tension to release. All postures are practiced on the floor, with gentleness and ease. This class welcomes all levels, regardless of experience, and is used as a practice of active meditation.

Step 2: Attend a Basic Yoga Workshop and/or Schedule a Private Lesson. We provide basic yoga workshops monthly to give you a chance to explore the yoga postures in detail. This is where we provide a group setting environment while addressing your individual questions and concerns.

Step 3: Attend a Gentle Vinyasa Class and/or a Forrest Yoga Class. These classes are designed for all skill levels. The pace is slow and the postures are basic. The purpose is to start integrating the movements in a sequence that builds from one posture to the next. Both classes allow the opportunity to build strength and flexibility.

Step 4: Attend a Basic Vinyasa Class. This is class links breath and movement, continuously in a rhythmic, flowing style. (Vinyasa indicates flowing movement)

Step 5: Attend a Power Vinyasa Class. This class is designed for all levels and allows the practitioners to explore different variations of basic postures. Arm balances and inversions are included.

Step 6: Attend MOSAIC'S Yoga Teacher Training, 200hr level. This training is designed not only to prepare you to teach an asana class, but, also as a vehicle to deepen your own practice of yoga. MOSAIC's YTT emphasizes the self examination and the concept of "Know Thy Self". You will develop a greater awareness of the power that lies beneath the surface. You will learn how to lead yourself towards using your gifts and developing your passions while connecting deeply to the source of spirit within.

Lastly, we encourage seasoned practitioners to attend all class styles offered at MOSAIC to ensure a balanced and healthy yoga practice. If you have additional questions, please let us know.
